Clifton Estate is in Southwark; the London most historic borough. It is made up of 355 tenanted properties with overall total of 448. Clifton estate comprises of Carnicot House, Cerise Road, Cicely Road, Consort Road, Flamborogh House, Hanover Park, Lambrook House, Martock Court, Moncrief Street, Portbury Close, Purdon House, Raul Road, Robert Keen Close, William Magrie Close, Winford Court, Witcombe Point, Yarnfield Square. The nearest station to Clifton Estate is ‘Peckham Rye Railway Station’ which is about few minutes walk.

Clifton Estate is an ideal place to live as it is located nearby on Peckham High Street. It is especially convenient as bank and post Office is located a short walk away on Peckham High Street. Shopping is made very easy for residents of Clifton Estate, as there are a variety of shops very close by on Rye Lane including Argos.  Dental surgery on Peckham High Street is a very handy addition to the neighbourhood, so long as one manages to get on the patient list! However, the biggest advantage is that residents can just nip around the corner to do their food shopping, as there is a Morrisons supermarket just around the corner in the Aylesham Centre.

On the 16th of May 1969 it was reported on the front page of the South London Press that, in 1960s a 5000year old stone axe head was dug up in the back garden of no 2 Martock Court, on the Clifton Estate and it is now preserved at the Cuming museum. Experts at the British Museum stated that it was the only one of its kind recorded in this part of the country.

London Transport opened their first post-war bus garage in Peckham High Street in 1951. The bus garage was demolished in 1995-96 to make way for an extension to the Safeway (Now Morrison) store in the Aylesham Centre. Peckham bus station now occupies the site of the former garage.

Peckham Leisure Centre was opened in McKerrell Road in 1986; among its many users was Rio Ferdinand, England and Manchester United footballer. After the leisure centre was demolished, key worker accommodation was built on the site for Broomleigh Housing Association; the postal address is 81 Hanover Park. Hanover Chapel was built in 1817 and ceased to be a place of worship in 1910; it became a cinema the following year. The building was demolished in 1915 and was replaced by Central Buildings.

Witcombe Point on the Clifton estate is the only high- rise block in the centre of Peckham and can be seen from the roof of Peckham Library. Current responsibility to conduct Fire Risk Assesment on blocks, such as Witcombe Point, arose following new legislation in 2006 and lies with the local council. These fire risk assessments involve visiting the building and assessing various aspects of fire safety, such as means of exit or measures to limit the spread of any fire that may break out. FRAs are required to cover the communal areas in a block and not the inside of each individual property.
